American Girl, Inc., Selects Courtney Mauss to Portray Michelle in The American Girl Revue

November, 2005 - Courtney Mauss will play the role of Michelle in The American Girl Revue, an original musical theater production that brings the beloved characters and stories of The American Girls Collection to life. Written by Broadway playwrights Gretchen Cryer and Nancy Ford, The American Girls Revue has sold more than 300,000 tickets in Chicago and New York, and has received high praise from girls, parents, and reviewers. The American Girl Revue debuts at The Grove in Los Angeles in Spring 2006, when the newest American Girl Place opens its doors to the public.

The American Girls Revue, which originally debuted when American Girl Place Chicago opened in 1998, tells the story of a group of modern-day girls at a meeting of their American Girls club. Each girl has prepared to act out her favorite American Girls story for fellow club members and a guest who is not familiar with the fictional American Girls characters — Kaya, Felicity®, Josefina®, Kirsten®, Addy®, Samantha®, Kit, and Molly®. As the girls relive the various characters’ experiences, they establish the underlying theme of the play: Look to the past; learn for the future. As each girl in turn brings her favorite story to life and steps into the role of an American Girls heroine, she gains new found awareness of her own strengths, her own voice, and her own feelings. The finale, “The American Girls Anthem” celebrates the girls’ resolve to apply the lessons from the past to their own lives as they sing about what it means to be an American girl of today.

Michelle, the role that Courtney will play, is the loving yet annoying little sister of Becky, the leader of the American Girls Club. Out of the hundreds who auditioned for this demanding theatrical opportunity, Courtney was selected among a total of 40 girls and 8 adults who will play the various other roles.

The American Girl Theater will began accepting reservations on January 16, 2006. For more information, call toll-free 1-877 AG PLACE (877-247-5223). See upcoming shows for Courtney.
